“Uplifts the mood and calms people’s nerves” – Outpatient at Piano Concert

Piano Series! Royal Eye Hospital Friday 14 June, 2.30pm -3.30pm.
Martin Jacoby’s programme will feature heavenly French music by Debussy and Ravel.

Piano Series! Royal Eye Hospital Friday 21 June, 2pm – 3pm.
Liam Curtin, artist and self-taught pianist plays Chopin and Schubert.

Deli Babies, Monday 24th June 10am – 11am MRI Outpatients, reception and clinic areas
Ros and Mark are CMFT’s music for health specialists working at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and training musicians for work in hospital settings. Today we hear them playing an enlivening programme of Greek and Klezmer music in reception and then improvised music in the clinic waiting areas.

Robin Sunflower and Daniel Blomeley, Thursday 27th June, 10am, St. Mary’s
Robin and Danny are a vibrant duo featuring harmonicas of various sizes, voice and guitar they cook up rhythms, tunes and songs that will get audiences happily engaged and tapping their toes.

Amy Webber (soprano) and Greta-Nike Gasser (piano) present a programme of Italian and German songs as well as classical piano favourites.

Piano Series! Royal Eye Hospital Monday 1 July & Thursday 4 July, 2pm – 2.30pm.
Holly Marland, Music for Health, leads short drop-in Singalong sessions as part of Culture Shots week. Featuring songs by the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Queen and a few improvised ditties.

Tuesday 2 July, 2pm – 2.30pm, St Mary’s Atrium & Wednesday 5 July, 2pm – 2.30pm, MRI new atrium
Come and explore music making with easy to play percussion instruments, accompanied by the heavenly strains of the Kora (West African Harp), played by Holly Marland as part of Culture Shots.

Sura Susso, Wednesday 3rd July, 2pm – 2.30pm, RMCH
Sura’s family have been custodians of Mandinka stories and songs over centuries, passing down the art of the Kora (West African harp) from father to son. One of the most exciting young West African musicians in the UK, Sura will take you on a journey through time from the past to the present, with hope for the future!

Friday 5 July, 2pm – 2.30pm, RMCH
As part of Culture Shots, Ros Hawley and Mark Fisher, resident Music for Health experts at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital invite you to join them for a drop in session of music making, exploring the ways in which music can be used as a tool for communication in the hospitals.

Piano Series! Royal Eye Hospital Friday 5 July, 3pm – 4pm.
Gavin and Andrjez bring you a toe-tapping smorgasbord of old standards from the great American songbook, on double-bass and piano to bring Culture Shots week to a grand finale!

Piano Series! Royal Eye Hospital Friday 19 July, 2pm – 3pm.
A hospital first – join Irfan Rainy (DJ), Jonathan Ellis (piano) and Blue (Jazz dancer) as they take you on an odyssey of sound and movement.

Piano Series! Royal Eye Hospital Monday 22 July, 2pm – 3pm.
Timothy Davidson will be playing a collective of different inspirational gospel songs, desired to encourage and lift people’s spirits up.

Piano Series! Royal Eye Hospital Friday 26 July, 2pm – 3pm.
At the tender age of 16, Yuanfan Yang has already appeared in the grand finals of BBC Young Musician of the Year and has a glittering International career ahead of him. He is delighted to share a virtuoso programme, including some of his own compositions, with the hospitals today.
